Our sweet Brinley's world turned upside down when little Kayla was born. Because she had pink eye and a cold the first month of Kayla's life, we wouldn't let her near her or touch her. Then Kayla ended up in the hospital for a week with RSV, and Brin was shuffled between friends, wondering when mommy was coming home. She was such a trooper. After Kayla came home we were a little overprotective, and wouldn't let any of the kids touch her or hold her... We finally relaxed, but found Brinley to be a little rough. Without realizing it, we were still frequently asking her to leave baby Kayla alone. The boys no longer had any patience for Brinley. Everything she did was annoying, and everything the baby did was adorable.
As Kayla got cuter and more responsive, Brinley became more difficult and rough with her. (As you can imagine.) We didn't realize what was really going on until we heard the nickname she had for her. "Hey you ugly little furball" was her new favorite phrase. When asked where she came up with that name, she told us that in her Care Bear movie that was what shreaky said to Beasty. (I think she missed the message of the movie) We had a nice little chat on some nicer names(she grinned when I asked if Shreaky was being nice when she said this...NO!)and mom has been really trying to give Brinley extra love and attention. I've also realized what happened with all the sickness, and have been trying to let her help me instead of always just asking the boys. We'll see how it goes....I'll let you know if she comes up with a friendlier nickname.
